about
Odd-ball feel-good folk-rock musings inspired by the story of the Wright Brothers, "Apricot Sky" is a single from what will ultimately become a full-length record exploring love, life, courage and aerospace.
lyrics
Apricot Sky
Wood and cloth biplane rose, crashed in tailspin
Figures, silhouetted in the wind.
Train tracks, silos, county roads, pastures and cornfields,
Never better place to spread them wings.
There is the sun in their eyes, they squint in the light,
In a frame filled with color, only seems black and white.
Was the sun coming up, climbing steadily by,
High in the apricot sky?
Watch the gull rise and fall over sand and sea,
Windswept morning, 1903.
No bird soars high in the calm, wait ‘till storms roll in,
Just where limits end, the skies begin.
There is the sun in their eyes, they squint in the light,
In a frame filled with color, only seems black and white.
Was the sun coming up, riding lazily by,
High in the apricot sky
there are no wars, no boundaries, no walls; the world is small.
Days are long but years are short, gone like stone is thrown,
New things always waiting to be known.
And if one day I walk away, let go of your hand,
Will you come and find me again?
There is the sun in my eyes, I squint in the light,
In a frame filled with color, not at all black and white.
Was the sun going down, falling gracefully by
High in the apricot
High in the apricot
High in the apricot sky?
